Week 46

Once again, we have walked with Jesus through his life, death and resurrection. Jesus has promised the Holy Spirit as a special gift to His followers. Jesus is returning to heaven, but the movement of God that started with him rolls on!
After the resurrection, Jesus gave clear instructions to His disciples: “Stay in Jerusalem until you receive power from the Holy Spirit, then be my witnesses to the ends of the earth.” So begins the “Acts of the Apostles”. Think of it as a sequel to Luke’s Gospel. Just as promised, the Holy Spirit comes upon them at the Jewish festival of Pentecost. They are made bold and they teach anyone who will listen about Jesus. Jesus tells them to preach this good news in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth!” which is exactly what “Acts” is all about. We will witness the miraculous
conversion of a Christian-hating Pharisee named Saul who will become one of the greatest missionaries the Church has ever known. We will witness the uneasy alliance between Jewish and gentile Christians, who do not really know what to make of each other. The Church spreads through the courage and faith of the apostles, the spiritual hunger of a broken world, and the power of the Holy Spirit. We will walk alongside brand-new churches that struggle to keep the faith. This is our story. As you are reading this, you are written into a brand-new chapter of your own! Who is Jesus to you? How has he changed you? What is your story? Who are you telling that story to? The Spirit is still building the Church, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ into every nation!
Keep reading and I’ll see you in the Bible!
